This online art project on Bollywood is tremendous: little animated clips from classic Bollywood films and other popular, kitschy motifs from Indian religion and film (via Long story; short pier). Hurts the eyes, but it’s well worth checking out. Mission Kashmir’s ultra-danceable ‘Bumbro’ palpitates in the background.

This is in the same vein as the shoulderbags that have been popping up all over New York with a large advertisement from an Indian cement factory plastered on the side. I’ve been to an Indian cement factory. Reminds me very much of Pran/Jonathan in Hari Kunzru’s The Impressionist, clawing his way from third world to first only to find that it’s rediscovered soul.
