Sarita Choudhury in 'Roar'

Sarita Choudhury and Annabella Sciorra appear in 'Roar,' a play about a teenager growing up in Detroit's Palestinian community who wants to be a blues singer. In a bit of odd casting, Choudhury plays the humorless mother, while Sciorra plays a sexually omnivorous aunt. 'Roar' is playing in Manhattan through May 18.

These are two lustrous beauties. But between 'Mississippi Masala' and 'Jungle Fever,' they also embody early '90s interracial exoticism flicks. I haven't seen much of Choudhury since 'Kama Sutra,' no pun intended.

The last time I had this much fun envisioning a play, it was 'The Vagina Monologues' in Manhattan. I scampered down to TKTS and was given the last available seat. When I walked into the tiny theater, there were maybe a hundred women and only a couple of embarrassed-looking boyfriends. Then there was me, the even more embarrassed-looking guy walking in alone, at the last minute, in front of the entire audience, with a front-and-center seat. Deep behind enemy lines was I.

I had a long-standing, 'Lois & Clark'-nurtured crush on Teri Hatcher, who wore a clingy white scoop-necked top that night with her dramatic, angular bob. I hadn't been warned about the play. So imagine my surprise when halfway into the performance, Hatcher, sitting three feet away, grinning like a devil and looking me directly in the eye, faked an intense, three-minute-long, moaning orgasm.

It just went on and on and on. She was heavily amplified. I slunk down in my seat. My blush was blushing. And I don't much remember the rest of the play ;)
