I finally saw City of God last night. Brazil, ah: an athletic, fluid, intuitive, let-the-good-times-roll joie de vivre. It’s softly spoken words and lithe motion, the same feeling permeating the fútbol, the cinematography, the faded colors, and yes, even the crime. Something I’ll never have: let’s-smoke-a-joint-and-get-us-a-farm spontaneity.
